About Margaret Lawrence University

Margaret Lawrence University is a private university established in 2022 under the National Universities
Commission Act of 1974 and Education Act of 1993. Founded by the Board of Trustees of the Fountain of
Joy and Comfort Foundation in furtherance of its commitment to serving humanity, the University’s Main
Campus is located in Galilee, Ika North-East L.G.A of Delta State, while its Medical College, Teaching
Hospital, Faculties of Law and Environmental Sciences are situated at the Abuja Campus of the University
located in River Park Estate, Airport Road, Lugbe District, Abuja.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidate must be registered with relevant professional bodies and must possess current practicing License where applicable.

a) Professor – MLUASSS 7

The candidate must possess Ph.D. in the relevant subject areas with at least twelve (12) years of teaching, research, community service and professional experience in a university or any other tertiary research-oriented institution. He/She must have a record of at least (25) publications in both local and international journals, and ability to initiate and develop research. The candidate must be willing to initiate and develop courses at undergraduate level. In addition, candidate must demonstrate evidence of academic leadership, evidence of teamwork as well as administrative experience in working with interdisciplinary groups. Registration with professional body where applicable is compulsory.

  1. Reader (Associate Professor) – MLUASSS 6

    The candidate must possess Ph.D. in the relevant subject areas with at least twelve (10) years of teaching, research, community service and professional experience in a university or any other tertiary research-oriented institution. He/She must have a record of at least (20) publications in both local and international journals, evidence of postgraduate supervision, and ability to initiate and develop research. The candidate must be willing to initiate and develop courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and must be able to supervise postgraduate students in his/her area of discipline. In addition, candidate must demonstrate evidence of academic leadership, evidence of teamwork as well as administrative experience in working with interdisciplinary groups. Registration with professional body where applicable is compulsory.

  2. Senior Lecturer – MLUASSS 5

    Candidate must possess Ph.D. in the relevant subject areas with a minimum of seven (7) years of teaching, research, community service and professional experience in a university or any other tertiary research-oriented institution. He/She must have a record of at least (15) publications with distinctive academic quality, originality and contribution to knowledge in a focused area of research and in reputable local and international journals. The candidate must be able to teach courses as well as supervise students’ projects at both undergraduate level. Registration with professional body where applicable is compulsory.

  3. Lecturer I – MLUASSS 4

    Candidate must possess a Ph.D. in the relevant subject area with at least five (5) years post-qualification experience in teaching, research as well as a good number of publications with outstanding academic quality, originality and contribution to knowledge in an emerging area of interest in local and international journals. Registration with professional body where applicable is compulsory.

  4. Lecturer II – MLUASSS 3

Candidate should possess an MSc. degree from a reputable university in the relevant subject areas with a minimum of two (2) years post-qualification experience and must demonstrate evidence of ability to participate in research, and evidence of registration for Ph.D. 2 Journal papers or 1 Journal paper with 1 referred conference proceeding. Must have at least 3 years University Teaching experience.

f) Assistant Lecturer – MLUASSS 2

A research-based Master’s degree from reputable university with at least twelve (12) months of full-time post- qualification experience. Evidence of having reached an advanced stage of completing Ph.D. programme will be an advantage.


g) Librarian II (Law Librarian)

Candidate must possess either LL.B. with at least a Diploma in Library Studies/Library and Information Management or Master of Library and Information Science with at least a Diploma in Law. Work experience in a Law Library will be an added advantage.

NON-TEACHING STAFF POSITIONS

1. Principal Assistant Registrar

Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree plus at least ten (10) years’ post-qualification experience, six (6) of which must be in the administration of higher education OR a master’s degree plus at least nine (9) years’ relevant post-qualification experience. Membership of relevant professional bodies such as NIM, ANUPA, etc is mandatory.

  1. Senior Assistant Registrar

    Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree plus at least eight (8) years’ post-qualification experience, four

    (4) of which must be in the administration of higher education OR a master’s degree plus at least six (6) years’ post-qualification experience, three (3) of which must be in the administration of higher education. Membership of relevant professional bodies such as NIM, ANUPA, etc is mandatory.

  2. Assistant Registrar

    Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree plus at least six (6) years’ post-qualification experience, three (3) of which must be in the administration of higher education OR a master’s degree plus at least four (4) years relevant post-qualification experience.

  3. Internal Auditor

    Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting with six (6) years’ post-qualification experience OR a bachelor’s degree in Accounting plus master’s/membership of ACA, ACCA, ACMA or their equivalent.

  4. Technologist I (Biomedical and Mechatronic Engineering)

    Candidate must possess the Higher National Diploma (minimum of Upper Credit) with at least three (3) years’ experience in Biomedical or Mechatronic Engineering.


  5. Confidential Secretary I


    • A University or HND Degree in Secretarial Studies plus NYSC discharge/exemption certificate.

    • Four (4) years post-qualification experience.

    • Candidate must be computer literate and must be able to type 70/100 WPM


  6. Drivers Responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for driving a clean and functional vehicle, regularly inspecting it and scheduling maintenance when needed.

  • Complete pre- and post-trip safety and operations checklists and documentation

  • Transport assigned passengers or items to and from designated locations in a timely and safe manner while adhering to all traffic laws and company safety regulations

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the local area and the most efficient routes.

  • Refuel vehicles and make sure they are always ready for use.

  • Represent the university in a positive and professional manner when interacting with customers and the public.

SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES: Margaret Lawrence University runs a remuneration package which is comparable to what obtains in other Universities in Nigeria.
