MARGARET LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY Galilee, Ika North-East L.G.A, Delta State Office of the Registrar ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE POSITION OF UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN Margaret Lawrence University (MLU) is a private University established in 2022 under the National Universities Commission Act of 1974 and Education Act of 1993, envisioned to be a world class Institution, committed to the pursuit of knowledge, innovation and excellence to meet the challenges of economic and human development in Nigeria and the World with focus on teaching, research and community service. The University main campus is located in the new city of Galilee, Ute-Ogbeje/ Owerre-Olubor Road, Ika North-East L.G.A of Delta State while its College of Medicine and Faculties of Law and Environmental Sciences are situated in the Abuja campus at River Park Estate, Airport Road, Lugbe District, Abuja. The position of University Librarian of the Margaret Lawrence University (MLU) is vacant. Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position. UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN The Position The University Librarian shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the overall administration of the University Library, its branches and extension, and for providing library services for the entire University community. The Person The University Librarian is a Principal Officer and is the head of the University’s Library. Candidates for the post shall be visionary and have the ability to provide good leadership, possess personal integrity and demonstrate the transparency in private and public life, and be able to command the respect and loyalty of staff members. Qualifications Candidates for the post shall: Be professionally qualified and be a practicing Librarian Possess a good honors degree not lower than second class honors and preferably a Ph.D in Library and Information Science or any other relevant discipline from a recognized University, with at least fifteen (15) years and relevant post qualification experience, preferably in a University or other institutions of higher learning Have published papers in professionally referred journals to merit professional status, as well as possess proven records of sound administrative leadership Be a registered member of the Library Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN) Be computer literate and proficient in relevant Computer applications. Must not be more than (fifty) 50 years on appointment. Salary and Conditions of Service The successful candidate shall hold office for a single-term of five years and on such terms and conditions as may be specified in his/her letter of appointment. Remuneration will be consolidated salary for University Librarian with NUC approved benefits and allowances as applicable to the Nigeria University system/other benefits/entitlements as approved from time to time by the Governing Council of Margaret Lawrence University (MLU). Vision Statement The candidate should also state in clear terms of not more than 500 words, his/her vision statement for the University in the next five years with particular reference to administration, control and innovations in library services.
