FG issues Full Operational License to Margaret Lawrence University
It is with great delight that the authorities of Margaret Lawrence University wish to announce to the general public that the National Universities Commission (NUC) on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria has issued a permanent license to Margaret Lawrence University to operate as a government approved and recognized university.
The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, disclosed to the public the approval and issuance of a full operational licence to Margaret Lawrence University to underscore the Nigerian government’s confidence in the university for it having complied and met the standards guiding university education in the country.
It is important to note however, that Margaret Lawrence University had earlier received the NUC Provisional Licence to operate as a private university on May 12, 2022. The issuance of a permanent License to university announced by the NUC on Thursday 14 August 2025 is an uncommon achievement by the university for it having been enlisted as a substantive university in the country.
Consequently, we wish to reiterate our commitment to abide by the federal government’s policies on university education and the NUC’s operational guidelines for universities in the country, and more specifically, promote the vision and mission of Margaret Lawrence University to always be an added value to university education in teaching, research and community service being the aims of a university.
We want to assure the general public, parents, students and prospective students that the permanent licence the NUC issued to the university should strengthen public’s confidence in the university that soon Margaret Lawrence University will be enlisted among world-class institutions of higher learning.
